Responsive Redesign & Development

Salaam — Film & dialog

Salaam is a year-round film festival that works toward cultural social inclusion, social engagement, global insight and responsibility. Their website was redesigned to be fully responsive, and now allows users to easily look though their program and book movie tickets on any device.

About the project

Salaam was in need of a new website that made it easier to navigate a fairly complex information hierarchy, while embracing the diverse range of devices that are now used to browse the web. The visual aesthetic from their old site still looked nice and surprisingly modern, so it wasn’t necessary to start from scratch. Instead I was tasked with the challenge of bringing their existing design up-to-date, while maintaining the brand that they have had for many years. I redesigned the layouts to work better across different screen sizes, and optimised the information hierarchy by grouping pages into sections based on their 3 main target audiences.

In addition to the new design, I also led the development of a custom backend app, that handles bookings and reservations. The app was integrated into WordPress so that the client could administrate everything from the CMS.
